We want to give you a quick update regarding the upcoming paving project at Western Self Storage.

We are fully prepared and ready to begin paving as soon as we receive confirmation from the paving company. Please note that we may only receive one day's notice before the work begins due to the contractor's schedule.

We kindly ask for your patience and attention to your email over the next few days/weeks. The site will need to be closed at the main gate for 2-3 days. Appointments are available on an emergency basis to enter through the south gate near the covered parking. We will notify you as soon as we have a confirmed date so you can plan accordingly.

Additionally, if you plan to be out of town during September or October, please be aware that all vehicles in the south lot will need to be moved once the north lot is completed. If this applies to you, we ask that you contact the office as soon as possible for instructions and further information to schedule your move.

We also want to apologize if you've had trouble reaching us recently. Our internet and phone systems have been down for the past week due to a major upgrade by Comcast on East Valley Highway. This took longer than expected, and we have not been able to receive or return calls during this time. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and appreciate your understanding.

Lastly, we will be updating the interior gate codes. Gate codes will NOT be changed until construction is complete, and we will inform all tenants of the new code once it has been updated.

Construction Update: 6/11/25 

We are making good progress on the back of the property. We are going to be in the North Corner of the property this Saturday. Everyone in this area will not be able to access their units at this time. We have included a map that shows the no-go areas. Please give the construction crew the space to get this part completed, and don’t disturb them.  

We also want to bring up the dust and the weeds situation. We were told by Bright Night, which is leasing the lot, that we aren’t allowed to do anything to it that could harm the Batteries and the ground where they are going to build. After a few tenants had said something, we discussed with the company to let us spray the weed killer, which is in progress, for everyone know.  

Also, the dust. With our new neighbors on the other side of the train tracks, we have noticed TONS of dust. We would like everyone to know that it's not our contractor making all the dust. We have reached out to the city of Sumner regarding their project to inform them of the dust. If you have any questions or concerns, reach out to the city of Sumner or our project manager  

We have done some research on places you can take your RV to get it washed if you need to. Please contact the office, and we can share that information.

This week, the engineers were on site setting the survey stakes and the new storm system layout.  

All survey stakes and hubs need to stay in place, and please do not disturb. 

If something happens and the stakes or hubs get moved in any way, please just email or call the office and let us know ASAP.

ESTIMATED TIMELINE OF EVENTS:  

• Mid-May: Breaking ground on the project, stormwater system installation  
• Mid-June: Rough grading  
• Late June: Final grading, ribbon drains, and paving 
•  Early July: Striping and space numbering, landscaping 
•  Mid-July: Start moving tenants (30-day window to complete this process)  
• FAQs:  
• Will I have to move?  If you are currently parked in our south lot (A Lot), past the covered parking area, then yes. We will provide more specific information regarding your move once the project is at a later stage.  
• If I’m moving, is there an additional cost?  No, we are asking you to move, so there will be no additional cost associated with this specific project. Your rent will remain on its normal schedule of increasing every year on your anniversary.  

How long will construction last?  We are planning for a total of 60 days, however, that is always subject to change with construction. We plan to post regular updates on our website to keep everyone informed. You can view this information by visiting the construction

• Will there still be a dump station?  Yes! The dump station will stay where it is located, and you will still have access to it. There will not be another location in the new lot.  

What if I’m not currently in the south lot, but I am interested in a spot in the new lot? Can I still move?  We will be moving those in the south lot first, as they have priority. After everyone is settled, we will evaluate how many spaces we have remaining

• What is happening to the south lot?  The south lot will be leased to a company named BrightNight for their Greenwater Project: a battery storage facility for Puget Sound Energy. You can read more about this exciting project on their website: https://brightnightpower.com/greenwater
