NBCU Photo Bank via Getty ImagesDespite the high-stakes, the comedians were thrilled to be part of \u201cSNL\u201d history.In the Murphy doc, Chappelle, 52, explained, \u201cThis is one of the most exciting things I think I\u2019ve ever done. Honestly,\u201d to which Morgan, 57, chimed in, \u201cYeah, I agree.\u201d\u201cThere was a moment in the rehearsal, my dressing room had Chappelle and Chris Rock, they were calling their moms to tell them that they was doing the Eddie Murphy show,\u201d Che recounted. \u201cIn my dressing room I\u2019m watching them kind of geek out.\u201dRock, 60, couldn\u2019t help but gush over the episode.\u201cIt was one of the greatest\u00a0\u2018SNLs\u2019 ever,\u201d he expressed. \u201cAnd I walked over to Lorne Michaels when it was over, and I said, \u2018You should quit right now. It\u2019s not gonna get any better than this.&#8217;\u201dMurphy returned to \u201cSNL\u201d once again in 2025 for the show\u2019s\u00a050th-anniversary special.\u201cGoing back to\u00a0\u2018Saturday Night Live\u2019\u00a0was a great experience,\u201d he confessed in the doc. \u201cMy creative energy, everything had been turned back up to 10.\u201dEddie Murphy on February 15, 2015 NBCU Photo Bank\/NBCUniversal via Getty ImagesThe feud between Murphy and Spade, 61, meanwhile, took place during a Dec. 1995 episode of \u201cSNL.\u201dDuring the segment, the funny man said \u201cLook, children, it\u2019s a falling star,\u201d\u00a0as a photo of Murphy popped up\u00a0on the screen during his infamous \u201cSpade in America\u201d sketch. \u201cMake a wish.\u201dWhile on his and Dana Carvey\u2019s \u201cFly on the Wall\u201d\u00a0podcast last month, Spade confirmed that the \u201cComing to America\u201d star \u201chated\u201d him.Eddie Murphy and Stevie Wonder on \u201cSNL\u201d in 1983. It was weird going from being a super fan to having him hate me overnight, and to try to win him back for the last 25 years.\u201d\u201cI made fun of him and it didn\u2019t go well, and he called me and we had it out,\u201d he added. \u201cActually, he had it out. I didn\u2019t fight back really, because I did feel a little guilty about it, and he did make some sense.
