City of Lawton installs Naloxone vending machine at Owens Multipurpose Center
WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) – In an effort to expand the community’s access to lifesaving overdose-reversal medication, the City of Lawton has installed a Naloxone (Narcan) vending machine at the Owens Multipurpose Center.When administered quickly, this medication can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. The machine was funded by the Oklahoma Opioid Abatement Grant and allows individuals to access the medication without an ID, insurance, or a prescription. It displays information about crisis support services and a helpline number for those in need of treatment, counseling, or other resources.The City stated that its goal with the project is “to empower residents to act in an emergency, reduce stigma, and strengthen community safety.”The Owens Multipurpose Center is located at 1405 SW 11th Street.
