Atmore traffic stop leads to drug trafficking charges, marijuana seizure, search for fleeing driver

“During the pursuit of the vehicle, the officer observed several items thrown of the vehicle that were recovered by officers,” McMann said. “The pursuit came to an end when the driver turned down a driveway on East Sunset Drive, and struck a storage shed, which caused minor damage. The driver immediately fled from the vehicle and was able to evade arrest. Investigators are working identify him and arrest him.”McMann said one of the occupants of the vehicle, Porter, was discovered to be in possession of over 50 grams of marijuana, over 100 grams of synthetic marijuana, an AR-15 rifle and items used to package narcotics. “One occupant was charged with a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge, and was transported to the Atmore Municipal Jail,” McMann added. “The third occupant was a 17-year-old juvenile who was not criminally charged and was turned over to their parents.”Porter was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
